We’re pretty lucky in Cornwall - miles of amazing coastline, beaches galore and 365 days a year of sunshine (sort of). Another thing we’re not short of is junk shops, salvage yards and great places to pick up second hand furniture.
If you’re anything like me and love to pick up some cheap furniture and spend some time restoring it to make it amazing, read on!
The Goose Shed, just outside Wadebridge
The Goose Shed stock some stunning furniture in their showroom at Hawksfield, but what makes it particularly exciting for me is their ‘Do it yourself’ stock, sold via their website. These pieces are sold at good prices, but might need a little work.
RE:SOURCE, Bodmin and St Austell
Here’s a great way to buy furniture and support a brilliant enterprise in the process. RE:SOURCE are a social enterprise and aim to help address the cause and effect of social exclusion in Cornwall. They do this by collecting, cleaning, repairing, refurbishing and selling unwanted furniture, appliances, bikes and other goods. They have two shops, one in Bodmin and another in St Austell.
Eden Reclamation, North of St Austell
You can find anything from sinks, baths and loos, to bricks and paving slabs at Eden Reclamation. They also have a nice selection of furniture, with rapidly changing stock. Certainly worth a visit.
Shazza’s Selling Page, St Columb
A whole furniture shop run entirely via a Facebook page. There is often a great selection of furniture to browse through on the page, in a variety of conditions. Send Shazza a message and arrange to meet her at her unit for a closer look.
We’ve only really started to scratch the surface here (no furniture restoration pun intended), there are LOTS more great places to pick up second hand furniture. We’ll keep updating this list, but feel free to get in touch if you have any other suggestions.
And don’t forget, if you’ve bought some second hand furniture that needs some serious TLC, let us know - we’ll get that furniture repaired in no time.
